Carpenter's Place is a safe daytime drop-in center that aids chronically homeless adults, many of whom suffer from mental illness, substance abuse, or learning and emotional disabilities. Instead of simply providing a meal or bed for the night then sending the person back to the streets, CP case managers help each homeless guest develop and implement a comprehensive Life Recovery Plan through holistic case management. This includes assistance in obtaining a wide array of needed services, employment and housing. CP also manages five housing programs for special homeless populations including: U.S. Veterans; women; chronically homeless men and women; men who have successfully completed an in-house addiction program and upon release are homeless; and employment housing for homeless men in the CP job readiness program.

CEANCI is an Education for Employment Regional Delivery System whose primary purpose is to provide access to high quality programming that leads to industry certifications or post-secondary opportunities. The organization administers grant funds that target secondary career and technical education programs at 34 area high schools and middle schools across 10 northern Illinois school districts, including Belvidere, Byron, Harlem, Hononegah, Meridian, North Boone, Oregon, Rockford, South Beloit and Winnebago. CEANCI coordinates and supports activities that: Integrate academic standards into CTE curricula; Strengthen and improve CTE skills; Provide career guidance and academic counseling; Educate and involve the community; Provide professional development for teachers, administrators and career guidance staff; Develop programs of study that starts in 9th grade and lead to post-secondary education and industry credentials; and Serve students by improving curriculum and equipment in the CTE classroom.

Our organization objective is to provide a non intrusive environment that fosters veterans coming out of themselves and engaging with others while improving their outlook week by week. Post traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and traumatic brain injury (TBI) have been identified as the long lasting legacies of the recent Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts. We have developed a program that is making a difference for veterans struggling with these issues. This program serves veterans of all conflicts who are challenged, disabled, in transition, and/or suffer from the effects of PTSD or TBI. Admission to the program requires a referral from a VA mental health professional. Licensed mental health professions have found this program to be as, or more, effective than some of the more traditional therapies.

EAA Chapter 22 was started with a meeting in Cottonwood FBO owner Frank Murray's office sometime in 1956. Frank Murray was elected the first president and ran the organization until he resigned due to ill health.The first issue of "TOUCH & GO" (EAA Chapter 22's monthly newsletter) was published in 1964 with Peter MacKay as the editor. The League of Women Voters of Rockford was established in 1922 just after the formation of the LWV of the United States. Among the founders of Rockford's League was Julia Lathrop, a woman suffragist and founder of both the national and Illinois League of Women Voters. As early as 1926 when a discrepancy was found in the counting of votes, the League brought about the implementation of training for local election judges, a practice which continues today. Originally named the LWV of Winnebago County, the name was changed to LWV of Rockford in 1953 and to LWV of Greater Rockford in 1998.

Mendelssohn Performing Arts Center offers an exciting range of live musical performances, a vibrant and growing Youth Music Program, and numerous musical performance and education opportunities for adults. The Mendelssohn PAC campus includes Mendelssohn Hall (406 N. Main St.) Emerson House (420 N. Main St.), and Starr Center (415 N. Serving northern Illinois for 34 years, The Pregnancy Care Center of Rockford is a faith-based non-profit organization that provides free and confidential pregnancy testing, ultrasounds by licensed nurses, mentoring throughout pregnancy, educational classes, practical resources, and referrals to area adoption agencies and community services. Male mentoring is available to young men facing fatherhood. Established in 1980, RAMP is a non-profit, non-residential Center for Independent Living (CIL) that emulates the Independent Living Philosophy with a mission that promotes an accessible society that allows and expects full participation by people with disabilities. RAMP is a passionate partner for people with disabilities desiring to live a useful and rewarding life. We empower people with disabilities to realize there are no limits to what they can do. We accomplish this by assisting them to live independently, make changes in their own lives, seek peer support, obtain resources and remove barriers that threaten their dreams of independence. RAMP advocates the implementation of current laws, promotion of needed legislation and improvement of existing systems for persons with disabilities while working to diminish negative attitudes that threaten to impede equal access. RAMP has an intimate understanding of the needs and solutions to advance the lives of people with disabilities. We have this understanding because the majority of our staff and board of directors have a disability. RAMP is a group of determined and caring individuals prepared to arm consumers with the tools and expectations necessary for them to guide their life now and in the future. A person with a disability who learns to navigate through daily activities in concert with their disability is free to pursue all possibilities of life.

The Family Peace Center is a 501c3 multi-agency, multi-disciplinary service center located at 315 N. Main Street in Rockford, Ill. The center provides services to victims of inter-personal violence. Both public and private partner agencies assign staff on a full-time or part-time basis to provide services from one location. The facility focuses on reducing the number of times survivors tell their story and the number of places survivors must go for help, as well as increases access to services and support for survivors and their children.The Family Peace Center is now offering appointments. In March 1981, four Rockford women met to discuss how women in the Rock River Region could join forces in support of other women. From this meeting, the concept of the Rockford Network of Professional Women (RNPW) evolved. Those four women were Mildred Berry, Barbara Chapman, Marcella Harris, and Jeanine Wortmann. Weekly organizational meetings were held with attendance increasing steadily. Standing rules were formulated and the Rockford Network of Professional Women became official in June 1981. RNPW Purpose To encourage women to attain leadership roles in the immediate and expanded community and to provide the preparatory training and the support that wil enable them to perform effectively. To provide an appropriate and needed forum for corporate and professional women to give and seek help in the advancement of their careers. To provide job-related support. To develop an information base for civic, professional, and personal pursuits.

Rockford Rage is a roller derby league based in Rockford, Illinois. Founded in 2006, the league consisted of two teams which competed against teams from other leagues. The league was founded in mid-2006, and played its first bout in December: an interleague contest between the Demolition Dolls and the Screw City Slammers, teams which have since been disbanded. The bout attracted 650 fans. In 2009, the league attracted attention for its abandonment of smoking breaks. Rockford was accepted into the Women's Flat Track Derby Association Apprentice Program in September 2009, and became a full member of the WFTDA in June 2010.The Rockford Rage will be hosting home bouts for the 2018 season at the UW Sports Factory located in downtown Rockford.

The Severson Dells Nature Center is housed in a converted Deer Lodge situated on a 369-acre county forest preserve. The Nature Center includes a library, bookstore, classroom, conference room, and display area. Numerous bird feeders attract a variety of species throughout the year. Forest Preserve of Winnebago County Working closely with the Nature Center, the Forest Preserve District maintains the physical property and facilities, including the Nature Center. Our programs are funded primarily by memberships, donations, and proceeds from special events.

The SM&SF Club located in Rockford, Illinois, at 1010 Sandy Hollow Road, was established in 1898 as the Swedish Music and Sick Fraternity. At that time, Swedish singing societies were popular in the Midwest with singing competitions being held throughout the year. TTThe early Swedish immigrants were also a strong ethnic group that took care of each other, both physically and financially, during times of illness and death. Today, the SM&SF Club is a non-profit social club with membership that exceeds 600 members. It still maintains an old tradition of caring for the community by its annual “Kick-In for Cancer” fundraisers that have raised over $30,000 a year to benefit the local hospital’s oncology departments and our local hospice care providers.

Stronghold Center is a four-season retreat and camping center, operated by the Presbytery of Blackhawk, Presbyterian Church (USA). Our facilities include wilderness cabins, a camping area, dining and meeting rooms, and seven retreat houses able to accommodate 6-56 guests. Located in Oregon, IL, the beauty of nature exists in a variety of environments, all along bluffs overlooking the Rock River. Founded in 1963, Stronghold Center proudly continues to provide a variety of Christian and secular programming and events. Our unique programming includes summer camps for ages 6-18, challenge courses, and a Confirmation Retreat. In October, Stronghold hosts the annual Olde English Faire. Stronghold is also a great location for one-day seminars, business meetings and professional development programs, church picnics, and family reunions!

The Superhero Center for Autism is a non-profit organization offering support, education, and resources for individuals with autism and other special needs and their families.Our community center, located at 4205 Galleria in Loves Park, Illinois, is a judgment-free place, open to all children with special needs and their families, where they can be safe, be empowered, be supported, and be themselves.To support our superheroes and their families, we offer support groups for superheroes, parents, and superhero siblings to build relationships, share ideas, and discuss how special needs play such a big role in their lives. We also offer parents resources to help navigate through the special needs world including IEPs, therapy options, and daily life challenges.Superhero siblings are welcome and have a room just for them to take a break and be themselves, and we hope to add a special siblings only night of fun filled activities geared towards celebrating who they are as superhero siblings and how much we appreciate them.

We’re about good deeds, a good time and creating a connected cycling community. We make it our personal responsibility to look out for the well being of our community and those around us. We are North America's premiere professional fur-covered bicycle cycling team based out of Rockford, Illinois, taking our furry bikes wherever the roads lead us, while helping those who need us the most. To combine a desire to give and a passion for cycling, the team officially formed in 2010 as a giving source to groups in need around the Rock River Valley community. The team donates dollars raised through biking events to local charities.

Vegan Outreach is a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to end violence towards animals. We seek a future when sentient animals are no longer exploited as commodities.We focus on reaching the people who are motivated enough to make changes now—there are always many in our target audience who just need some guidance.Founded in 1993, we’ve been most known for our massive outreach program of leafleting on college campuses. At its peak, we were handing booklets to over 1 million students at 1,000 schools per semester.By steadily increasing the number of vegans, we’re laying the groundwork to reach a tipping point in which sweeping public policy changes for animals will become realistic.

Honoring the Veterans of Winnebago County Since 1903. Veterans Memorial Hall and Museum is a living memorial to Veterans from all wars. It will serve as a constant reminder to the sacrifices given by brave men and women from Winnebago County and a way for generations to remember and learn about their lives. Open Tuesday through Friday from 9-4. Historic docent led tours on Tuesdays at 11 am and Wednesday at 1 pm.Weekends and group tours by appointment. Rentals available. This Memorial Hall, one of the first of it's kind in the state of Illinois to be dedicated to our veterans of all wars, was completed in the year 1903. The doors opened with the dedication ceremonies on June third of that year by our twenty - sixth president Theodore Roosevelt with these words: "No more fitting memorial could be erected to the men who fought, than a hall such as this..... a hall beautiful because of the uses to which it is consecrated" - Teddy Roosevelt 1903.

Winnebago County CASA is a nonprofit, volunteer-based organization that advocates for abused and neglected children within the Juvenile Court system. Our trained volunteers are appointed by a judge to represent the best interests of children in the abuse and neglect court. Our obligation is to ensure that the children we represent will be visited at least monthly, and that their needs, desires and circumstances will be reported to the court at every scheduled hearing. The Court Appointed Special Advocate/Guardian Ad Litem (CASA/GAL) will be the consistent person in the child’s life.
