The surprise attack on the American naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, on December 7, 1941, was a watershed event in American and world history.

This one and a quarter hour military encounter served as a catalyst for both immediate and long-term actions that transformed the world far beyond the expectations of the military planners and national leaders involved at the time.

Bob Carlson will explore the attack itself, its aftermath in a broad sweep of WWII, and its legacy extending now 80 years later. Time will be allowed for an open discussion at the end of the presentation.

Speaker: Mr. Carlson of Rockford holds a Master’s Degree in history and is currently retired from a career in health care and human resources. He is also on the Midway Village Museum Board of Directors.
